Below are a few patterns I recently made from some of my drawings. These patterns are a lot more complicated than my usual patterns, but they are so fun to make that, as usual, I just had to share them with you. I make so many patterns on a daily basis. Many of them inspire collections and I add those to my website. But a lot of what I do is just playing around and experimenting, so I've started a pattern gallery (see left sidebar) to show off some of that experimentation.
Sometimes I hesitate to share the things that are, well, a little different from the work you may have seen on my fabrics or other products or on my website. Still, I'm a girl of many moods and I enjoy all different kinds of art so I might as well put it all out there, right?
I don't know why I tend to preface posts that contain certain types of work in this way. It is not as if you are going to recoil in horror and never visit my blog again! Some of you might even like these!
I need to remember all the things I've learned in this past year and not be afraid to try new things and put it all out there! I think it is the nature of the artist to be a bit insecure. We are always looking for approval from others where our work is concerned. I never quite got around to that post I said I would do regarding my New Year's resolutions, but here is a good one: From now on, I'll try and stop apologizing for my work and just say "Look at these new patterns I did last night! Enjoy!"
