Quilt Market 2010- The Bicycle

I really appreciate all the kind words from passers-by about the bicycle in my booth at Quilt Market!  It was a really fun piece to have in my booth and was surprisingly easy to make.  I love the Beach Cruiser style of bike and found one for $79 in this gorgeous mint green.  Then I used Mod Podge and my new print Wanderlust (JM31) in Cornflower from my Wild World collection.

I used long strips of the fabric for the large parts of the bike, then cut out elements from the fabric to randomly place elsewhere.  The latter method helped smooth out some of the places where it was difficult to get the fabric to conform.

We added this cute basket and filled it with fresh flowers that my husband picked up at Central Market.

On the drive to Houston, I had so many supplies in the vehicle that I didn't have room for my husband.  He had to fly down and meet me.  We wanted to be able to ride back together, though, so we left this bike behind with a sales rep for Free Spirit.   I think he's going to take it to a Houston area fabric shop--one that is carrying my fabric--to use as a display.  I'm happy it will continue to be seen!
