Silent Cinema Patchwork Pillows

Quilting class is going great!  Thank you all so much for the encouragement here on my blog and on Twitter.  I love that I have connected with so many quilters and sewers--you are all constant sources of inspiration!

One of the great things that has come about as a result of this class is that I am sewing so much more than ever before!  I've been practicing my "Flying Geese" and other quilting techniques, and all of this practicing has made me much more comfortable in front of the sewing machine.

Yesterday, I made these patchwork pillows using Silent Cinema--I just love how they turned out!  I was inspired by this tutorial from the awesome Patty Young.  I love all things patchwork and am looking forward to mixing and matching some more patterns for future projects.

It is always so fun to learn new things.  In addition to my quilting class, I've been taking some online courses in Adobe Illustrator through Lynda.com.  I have used Illustrator probably every day for the last 10+ years.  I feel like I know it backwards and forwards, but it occurred to me recently that I regularly use only about 1/3 of the available tools.   I am able to do everything I want to do in Illustrator, but I Know there is much more to learn.  The online tutorials at Lynda.com are so thorough and in-depth--I feel like I'm learning the program again for the first time.  I'm really enjoying all of this learning--it takes me back to my school days!

My next quilting class is Saturday, and we are going to start putting our quilts together.  I can't wait to see it all come together--I'll post some pics next week!
